Please join us in celebrating the feast day of St. Benedict. Born to a distinguished and wealthy family, Benedict felt a profound emptiness in his comfort and privileged life. He left it all to live as a hermit. During his time of silence and solitude He found the purpose he had been searching for in God and the Church. Inspired and led by faith, Benedict went on to develop the western monastic tradition– a way of life in which believers pursue sanctification through unity, fraternity, work, and prayer. The first community established according to this monastic rule was the Benedictine Order, which still exists today.
