Mass times have been updated for the weekend: Sun. 8:00 am at Church of St. Edward, Sun. 8:30 am at Church of St. William, and Sun. 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Lake.

Faith Formation sessions will begin on Wednesday, September 9 for all students grades 1-10 at Our Lady of the Lake, Battle Lake. Safe Environment practices will be followed at both sites.

Don't miss the Annual Parish Picnic on Sunday, August 30th at 5:30 PM. It will be held in the Fellowship Hall this year. Join us for food, fellowship, and Bingo after the meal!

In the Church, we celebrate many feast days throughout the year, some more popular like Christmas and Easter. Different levels of significance are attached to these days - Memorial, Feast, and the highest being Solemnity. Examples of Solemnities include All Saints Day, the Annunciation, Christmas, and Easter.

On August 4th, St. Ann celebrated the feast day of Saint John Vianney, the patron saint of parish priests, as a Memorial. On August 10th, St. Edward celebrated the feast day of Saint Lawrence, deacon and martyr, as a Feast. Saturday, August 15, marked the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Saturday, August 15 was the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Though not a Holy Day of Obligation this year as it fell on a Saturday, it holds great importance in the Catholic faith. The Assumption is the belief that Mary was taken body and soul into heaven at the end of her earthly life.

Pope Pius XII declared in 1950 the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, signifying her completion of earthly life and assumption into heavenly glory. This belief has been held since the early days of the Church. The faithful have always revered the bodies of holy men and women, yet there is no location claiming the body of the Blessed Mother.

The faithful were encouraged to seek Our Lady's intercession in a special way during the weekend, focusing on the 4th Glorious Mystery: the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
