Wednesday of the fourth week of lent Sometimes it is difficult to fathom the love of God. This is because sometimes we think of love in human terms. The best love is a mother's love for her child. Sometimes, mothers fail to give this love to their children, but all mothers must love their children. Today's readings speak to us about God's immense love for us, which is continuously active for our salvation. Even if a woman should forget her child on her breast, God cannot forget us. He is continuously working through his servants to set us free and to guide us to salvation. This is one side of God's love. The other side is the price that his son must pay for our freedom. Lent is a time to ponder God's love because it takes us right through the expression of God's love through his son Jesus Christ who lays down his life for us. St. John in 15:13 "No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends. It is a time to think about all the things you got and went through not because you were the special one but because God was by your side. God is asking you not to be like the Jews who did not believe even when Jesus told them he was the son of God, but to love his son and do whatever he tells us. Just ask yourself how much of your time you give to your God who gives you the life you have. Secondly, how you can love the people created. How many times have you gone out of your way to show people? If we want to continue receiving God's love, we must love him back and ask for forgiveness when our conduct is against God's commandment of love. Lent is a time to show love to others by sharing our resources with others or offering support to others. Instead of wanting someone to ask you, offer yourself willingly and freely.

Without a doubt, the best way to honor St. Margaret Mary Alacoque is to grow in devotion to the Sacred Heart. Father Simon Cleary, a priest with the Legionaries of Christ serving in the Philippines, will help us come to better know and understand the heart of Christ. Jesus is the Lord, yet we are invited to know Him as a friend. We pray you may grow in a deeper and more personal relationship by listening to this series. 📲 Listen to this playlist for free on Tabella, available in the App Store or Google Play

One thing that scares many people and sometimes brings about tension in people’s lives, is God. God being in our lives, many times is something that is not easy to comprehend. The child - Jesus, to be born to us is the Emmanuel: God with us. We need not to be afraid! We just need like St. Joseph to allow him in our homes; in our lives. He is the king of Glory, and let’s allow him entry to rule and to guide our lives. Let’s welcome him so that he may bring us that lasting peace and joy!

Along this journey of life; along the journey leading us to God and to heaven, challenges and discouragements will surely assail us. We need though, to keep our hope alive, knowing that God is Emmanuel. We need a messenger reminding us of God being Emmanuel. John the Baptist needed this while in the dark prison. One day, each one of us will need such a messenger to remind us that God is Emmanuel. Rejoice in the Lord always brothers and sisters!
