The second weekend of October is proclaimed as Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Sunday. Join in celebrating the vital mission of the DCCW and honor the women who serve as leaders, companions, and disciples in the church.

Calling all women 19+ to join us for a discussion on sharing and growing your Catholic faith. Share your needs, suggestions, and interests in today's world. This gathering will take place on October 11 from 2-3 pm at Sacred Heart Hall in Urbank.

The Catholic Church celebrates Respect Life Month in October with the theme 'Mary, Mother of Life'. The first Sunday is designated as Respect Life Sunday, focusing on valuing the gift of human life. Let us cherish and protect life in all its forms, seeking Mary's intercession.

In 2024, the Holy See issued a declaration on the infinite dignity of human life, emphasizing the Church's view that every person possesses inherent and inalienable dignity. The declaration condemns violations like abortion, euthanasia, and human trafficking.

Pope Leo XIV declared at an interreligious meeting in 2026 that religions are guardians of life. He emphasized the importance of protecting and serving life, denouncing actions that diminish human dignity. Let us work towards upholding the sacred value of all life.

Our pastors and deacons will attend the Annual Clergy Conference from October 4-7. Please note that Mass, adoration, and confession will not be available at the parishes during those dates.

St. Joseph Church in Bertha is hosting a Fall Cemetery Cleanup on Saturday, October 3rd. Volunteers are needed to help with shoveling and cleaning around the church. Bids are due by October 5th. Contact Maria Uberto for more information.

Join the St. Frederick Church in Verndale for a Fall Breakfast on Sunday, October 4th, from 8:00 AM to Noon. Enjoy pancakes, French toast, ham, scrambled eggs, and beverages. A raffle drawing will take place at Noon - tickets available at the parish offices.

Exciting news - the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program is now available in Staples! Sessions for children ages 3-9 will begin in October. Limited spots still open, contact the parish office to register.

Sacred Heart Church is looking for assistance with shoveling snow from the steps and sidewalks around the church, rectory, and school this winter. Bids must be submitted by October 5th. Contact Maria Uberto for more details.
