Luke’s Gospel concludes with Jesus appearing to his disciples, instructing them to stay in Jerusalem until they were ‘clothed with power from on high’. In the Acts of the Apostles, our first reading, Luke picks up where he left off. Jesus has returned to the Father (the Ascension that we celebrated Thursday); the disciples are gathered, devoted to prayer, waiting and watching. Fervent activity has its place, but sometimes God calls us to be together, pray, and wait for the Holy Spirit.
